I am wondering what the history is of the “ range of light” area as far as fire damage goes, and what effect on the area have visitors, especially recreational vehicles like 4- wheelers and campers , had. I am considering what was said about access historically being denied or restricted when an area becomes a national monument.
If the ex-president wins the election, a "Range of Light National Monument" declared by President Biden would likely be history. Recall during his past administration Trump reduced the size of some national monuments. I remember interior secretary Ryan Zinke posing like the Marlboro Man on a paint horse in one of those monuments despite commenting that they were "drop dead beautiful" he proceeded to downsize them.
As for the ORV crowd, their right to recreation far too often segues into wreakreation. Note that the ability to afford and acquire a piece of technology does not, itself, come with some kind of right to use it, particularly where its use leaves behind a clear trail of damage to young growth plantlife, vulnerable wildlife, and erosion.
